Hey everyone! I hope you are all having a great day. As promised here is some more wonderful book page samples and this time they were created by Design Team member Patricia Jaynes. I love the simple color scheme that she used for her samples which really showcases the book pages.

The new stamps are scheduled to be here today so I am on the look out for the brown man this afternoon! I will let you know when they are available.

Oh I wonder what stamp set this is?

Book Page Challenge, Cheryl's Samples

I am so excited to show you samples from our wonderful Design Team in the next few days. The challenge this time was to use book pages in their samples. I saw some beautiful cards made using these in The Stampers Sampler a couple months back and could not get them out of my head. So I challenged our DT with this and they really ran with it and created some really inspiring work using our TSS stamps.

Today we are featuring Cheryl Kelly-Van Domelen's samples of cards and scrapbook pages with her cute little girl Payton. I am sure you will agree that her work is inspiring and will make you want to try book pages in your projects.

Don't be afraid to use your old books, or you can get inexpensive books at yard sales and Goodwill. The older the better I say, which gives the pages character. Do you know someone who is going over sea's? Have them pick up some old paper back books or even a newspaper... I would love some!

Christmas Card Workshop

I am so excited to share with you about our upcoming Christmas Card Workshop November 14th. This is always a favorite workshop where you are invited to stay all day 10:00am until about 7:00 or s0 and create 5 wonderful Christmas themed projects to give and to inspire you this holiday season.

When you have completed the 5 Christmas cards you can go back and make addition cards of your favorite designs for a small fee. In addition to cards I will also have tags and small gifts you can make, also for a small fee. The post above is an example... the card in this grouping is included in the workshop fee and then you can make the tag for .25 cents and the gel/lotion and holder for $2.99. You can come away from the workshop with tons of cards and gifts all ready for giving!

The workshop for the 5 Christmas themed projects designed by Melissa Baldwin is $15.00 which also includes your lunch and dinner. The meals for the workshop are provided by the Stamp Club members.

You will need to pre-register for the workshop and you can do that by calling the office (706) 359-6387 or emailing me melissa@thestampingstudio.com.

Scalloped Pumpkin Card, Retreat 2009

As promised here is one of our retreat 2009 round robin projects. We had 9 in all this past weekend and this is one of my favorites. This pumpkin card has a lot going on but my favorite feature is the pumpkin which is made from 3 scalloped ovals. Let's start....
I used our Papaya Puree Prism cardstock and die cute a medium and two dark scalloped ovals. I used the Nestie die cuts and my Cuttlebug to do that but you can use anything you may already have including punches.
I first stamped the medium shade oval using the "Fabulous Fall" saying from the "Fabulous Fall" saying set and the "Autumn Rounder" on the two darker ovals using black ink.

The next step is to emboss the ovals using embossing folders and the Cuttlebug.

The next step is to distress the edges using VersaMagic Dew Drops in Pumpkin Spice and Jumbo Java.
I also pinched the edges up to give the scallops more dimension.

To create your pumpkin base take the two darker ovals and overlap them at the bottom to get a shape just like a real pumpkin.
The lighter oval goes on top and there ya go!

Every pumpkin needs a stem so I free handed one out of brown cardstock.

I used an embossing folder on it and rubbed it jumbo java dew drop.

We are going to use a flower and I have dotted paper flower from Prima here.

I rubbed it with the jumbo java ink.

I layered that with a flower die cut from a book page and then a green flower eyelet.

Wanted some more dimension and a pop of color so I cut some long thin foliage. To do this just place the green cardstock on your cutter and barely cut any off... just a smidgen so that the cardstock actually curls a bit.

Now that we have that done let's assemble the card. I have a transparency cut down for the card base, a light papaya puree scalloped square, a pattern paper rectangle and a small brown square that we will cut in half to use as corner tabs.

Fold the card in half and then glue the scalloped square inside. This is where you can write your personal note on.Glue the pattern paper rectangle to the inside front of the card which means that you will put the glue in the middle front of the pattern paper. Glue the pumpkin to the front of the card and then lift up the bottom of the top scallop and place some glue down.
Then add some of your green foliage.

Cut a length of ribbon and make two lops and glue together using glue dots.

Lift up a top edge of scallop and glue behind it.
On top of the scallop lay down some glue and add some more of the green foliage.
Glue down the flower embellishment on top of that and then take another length of ribbon and hide the end under the flower, twist and then use a brad to secure.

Sneak Peek Ornament Set

Here is the promised Christmas set I told you about yesterday by our artist friend Dionne. I just love this grouping of ornaments that we can add lot's of glitter and bling to,and the smaller image with the gift can be a focal point image in it's self.

Check back tomorrow for the Christmas saying set!

New stamp update

I just got an update for our new stamps to be... and they are going to ship tomorrow. So that means that they should be here about Tuesday. Yea!! I will be Sneak Peeking two more sets in the next couple of days... they are Christmas themed sets.

Sneak Peek Thanksgiving

I have been dreaming about a turkey dinner stamp set for awhile and when we started working with Dionne I knew she was the artist to draw it! I think that this is a more fitting image for our modern Thanksgiving dinner celebrations than Pilgrims, although I like a good pilgrim stamp now. :)

How much fun will this stamp set be to color in with our Copic Ciao's? (OK I know I keep saying that but I am Copic Addicted!!!) The smaller image is eggnog... yummo! And the saying "carving out memories" is going to be just perfect for my Thanksgiving cards.

I hope you like this Sneak Peek stamp set as much as I do.

PS... I have an email into our manufacturer checking on when these will ship and I will update you when I hear back.

Copic's now available!

Crazy for Copics! That is totally me...crazy for Copics and I finally have enough in stock to start selling them through the internet store. Just go to www.TheStampingStudio.com and then click on "Store" and then scroll down to the catagory Markers/Pencils/Crayons.

I have decided to sell these in sets of two perfectly coordinated colors. Copic alcohol markers are made to blend beatifully but you need at least two markers to do that. They say you should have a color and then a "friend" which is the lighter color. What you normally do is to color the image in using the lightest color, then take the darker color and add shadows, then take the lighter color again and color over the image again to blend the two together. That is what I have done with the leaves below.

I attended a Copic Certification Class with design team members Pat Jaynes and Suzanne Milam and we learned so much usefull information including what colors will go together. Between the 3 of us we have taken the guess work out of chosing what color to purchase that will blend well together. The sets below are the two marker sets we have come up with for you.

You may notice that we do not have yellows, browns and skin colors... these are back ordered at the moment and we will add them to the store as soon as they come in. We will also be adding more great colors!

Retreat Unders Swap

What is an Unders Swap? It has become a tradition at our annual retreat and this year was no exception. It is basically a gift swap which you might have done at Christmas parties where people open a gift one by one and the next person has the option of stealing a previously opened gift or opening one that has not been opened yet.

Our twist on this is the "Unders" part and the rules go that the gift has to be handmade and has to take you "under" 2 hours to make, and cost "under" $10.00 to make. Also the gift wrapping, and tissue and ribbon and whatever else that the gift was wrapped in, is part of the gift as well and if the gift is stolen all of that wrapping goes with it. You know we use all this stuff in our papercrafting!

Here are the Unders Swap gifts from this year;

We had such a good time at retreat this year and I hope you will consider joining us next year for a fun filled weekend of stamping and papercrafting! It will be in September again so start a "change jar" and start saving.
I will be posting the round robin projects that we made over the next couple of weeks so keep checking back for some wonderful projects you can recreate with your TSS stamps.
