My little distraction

Here is a new addition to our family that has been "my little distraction" lately. Her name is Noel and she is a special needs puppy being totally deaf and seeing impaired. Here she is keeping me company in the Studio under my desk. She can see about 4-5 feet in front of her and shapes beyond that. She is just the cutest bundle of white fluff and our family is totally in love with her, including our coon hound Marble who let's her crawl all over her and bite her ears until she cries!

If you visit the Studio you will be able to meet her including the upcoming workshop this Saturday. We still have room so if you want to attend just let me know; melissa@thestampingstudio.com

Scent my Cards!

Wouldn't it be great if our cards "smelled" as great as they look?... especially if you are sending a card with, let's say a Candy Apple on it... or a beautiful flower. Now you can! I just placed an order for these little sent roll-ons that were created to use on our cards.

You just roll the scent onto the edges, folds or layers of your card. Scent in the bottle will last 9-12 months and scent on the card will last 2-3 weeks and longer if you use a clear envelope. These are natural and essentials oil fragrance and disappear on most thick cardstock.

I can't wait to get these in and play with them! They should be here in the Studio on about the 20th of this month and I will let you know when I have added them to the online store.

It is here!

Hey everyone the first stamp set in our new series Sweet Of The Month is here! Candy Apple item #sotm1 can be found in the online store www.thestampingstudio.com in the section "READY SET STAMPS". Woot... woot!

Photo Pumpkin

So you may have seen this cute little 3D pumpkin that I showcased the other day on the blog as a project we are going to make at the October 24 workshop. I had an Aha! moment the other day after I took our boys annual pumpkin photo's and was looking for something fun to do with them. (Every year since the twins were about 12months old I have taken photo's of them with their own pumpkin that they later cut into jack-o-lanterns)

I saw the pumpkin sitting there at thought Aha!... I could make one of these pumpkins using only the photo's. I was so excited that I ran to the Studio and did just that. (See photo's below) What a great keepsake and a great gift for relatives. Oh!... how about making one of these using the classic circle and creating a photo ball into an ornament? I gotta try that too!

New Copic Cia's are here!

They are here! Beautiful new colors of Copic Ciao markers. We have the yellows back in and I am totally in love with the Cardinal reds. The Skin Tones are the two colors to have for coloring in people and skin. You can find all of these in the online store http://www.thestampingstudio.com/ in the section "Markers/Pencils/Crayons".

Sneek Peak, Sweet Of The Month

Here it is!.... the first stamp set in our new Sweet Of The Month (SOTM) series from artist extraordinaire Brook Smith. And what better image could we start out with than a hard crunchy but "carmel-ly" sweet Candy Apple that is, of course, calorie free!

This set is due in the Studio tomorrow or Friday and I will let you know as soon as it is available for purchase.

New SEI Papers!

I received the most gorgeous papers from "the brown man" the other day and quickly priced and put them on display and have just been enjoying looking at them ever since. Do you think there is something wrong with me... maybe a pattern paper intervention is in order?
I just got done uploading Shimmers, Pearls, Velvets, Glitters, and Lacquer double-sided pattern papers all from SEI. We are also carrying the textured double-sided cardstock that match these collections as well. All of the pattern papers have some kind of special finish on them and their price point is .95 cents, and then the textured cardstocks are at a .60 cent price point. These are beautiful and a great deal all ready for the upcoming winter season and holidays.
I created yesterday's card with this SEI paper and just love the foil finish on it! These papers are now available in the store http://www.thestampingstudio.com/ in the "Pattern Paper" section starting on the 3rd page. It will be hard to chose which ones to buy... you may need to purchase one of each!

Christmas Card Workshop sample

Have you heard about our Christmas Card Workshop yet? It is one of our most popular workshops of the year and it gives you a good start on your Christmas cards. This workshop is sponsored by our Stamp Club and they bring all of the food for the event, so you know it is going to be good! The workshop starts at 10:00am and lasts until everyone is all stamped out which may take until 7:00-8:00pm.

I will have 5 cards for you to make for the $15.00 fee (that includes the food and drinks for all day as well) and then you can make more of your favorite card designs for a nominal fee. You can walk away with tons of cards completed and lot's of inspiration!

Here is an example of one of the cute cards we are going to make at the workshop that I just designed and was so excited about it I wanted to share it with you! It is called a swing card and I used Dionne's new Ornamental-scape stamp set. Of course I had to color it in using our Copic Ciao markers! BTW, I have more colors of Ciao's on order and they should be here soon.

Let me know if you have any questions about the workshop or would like to RSVP (706) 359-6387 or melissa@thestampingstudio.com

Easy Decorated Clip Tutorial

Here is another Round Robin project that we made at our Retreat last month... very fast and easy!
Here are the cute decorated clips we are going to make. The base of the clips come from an office supply store and look like this. They come in these great colors and a nifty storage container.
Some of the supplies you will need to gather are a cardboard slide mount, 2 squares of pattern paper cut 2x2", stamps, inks, embellishments.
Use a corner rounder to round off the corners on both the 2x2" squares of pattern paper. This 1/4" corner rounder is from Zutter and I can special order these for you if you want. Most corner rounders are 1/2", so this one is perfect for using with the slide mount.Cover the slide mounts with the 2 squares. On one side only cut out the window using a craft knife.Stamp your image onto white cardstock. I am using the little butterfly that is in the stamp set "Sing" and Orange Adirondack ink pad. Trim this and glue behind the window you cut out.It should look like this. Now take that and glue it over the clip. Use lot's of glue so it is nice and sturdy. Now is a good time to stamp the saying on the front. This is a saying from the stamp set "Casual Hand Notes" and was too long for the project so I just cut it apart. I love that you can do that with unmounted stamps like ours!Decorate your clip with paper flowers and a pom pom.

Whala! Won't these make great little gifties?
